Certificate in dog and cat breeding
This course has been on hand at Cibeins Agricultural High
School since September 1983.
The students themselves are responsible for the pedagogical
kennel and look after the pets all over the year, including
bank holidays and all types of vacation.
Objectives
of the NC course
The goal of this course is to give students durable bases
and then make it possible for them to further their studies.
The objective is to acquire professional skills in the
field of the canine and cat breeding (food, reproduction,
selection, hygiene, dog education, marketing of pet food
and accessories).
Application
You may apply from the age of 15, after the 4TH grade
and GCSEs by sending a letter of application along with
your term reports. If your file is selected by the commission,
you will be allowed an interview.
Set of courses
The NC course in dog and cat breeding lasts 2 years and
involves 10 to 12 weeks of work placement:
- joint training courses (study, open air activities,
visits abroad, technical visits...).
-individual training course in professional environment.
It is shared over the two years and makes it possible
to acquire hands-on training and a professional experience.
Graduation
You will graduate thanks to a CES :Continuous Evaluation
Schedule throughout the two years of studies (in French:
CCF) and to final examinations. You must not get a lower
mark than 9 out of 20 as an average to get the degree.
If you get a 0 mark, you will be eliminated.
Further studies
If
you wish to go on with your studies, you may choose to:
start working in:
• dog/cat breeding
• grooming, pet food and accessories selling, etc
go on with your studies:
• to get a National Diploma (in dog and cat breeding
or pet shop sales) with vocational training at Cibeins
Agricultural High School .
• to get Advanced levels in Animal Breeding or Landscaping
( highly selective conditions).
• higher education: after your ND or your A-levels,
you may apply for a two-year College course in Animal
Breeding or Marketing and Food Science at Cibeins school.
